15 Days to go!
WOOHOO, this B has made it a full week without my two favorite things, meat & cheese!! I am surprised I've been able to maintain the Vegan-ism && It's getting easier every day. Although some mornings I wake up, desperate for some REAL PROTEIN, I remind myself of why I'm doing this and find it easy to get over the craving. So far, this has been a pretty amazing week for me. Monday, I hit the gym to get some cardio in. I started with a little jog warm up, and then proceeded to do 3 miles. I've been stuck at the same 10:18/10:20 pace for MONTHS and it has been driving me insane. Monday, I averaged 10:00 flat and could not have been more ecstatic. Is it the Vegan-ism or is it a placebo effect? I couldn't tell you, but I can tell you I was extremely happy to finally see some progress. Yesterday during strength conditioning, I felt strong and kept adding weight to my reps. I couldn't believe how great my muscles felt and how easily I was able to power through the dead lifts, curls, and bench presses. I am looking forward to see how my body will be reacting after the full 22 days.

From December 2013 - March 2015 I have successfully lost about 40 pounds. Although this is huge progress, I know that there is still so much more I can lose! I have invested lots of time (&money) into getting my butt in shape. I have found a gym where the people have become my family. And I have found a sport that I love doing. However, I have seemed to hit a plateau.
Talking to my trainer over the past few months, we have gone over various diet and exercise plans. Though I have seen results, I have not been seeing results to the extent that I want. So Tuesday, during my session, my trainer & I decided I need to try something out of my comfort zone and "detox". We decided I would go Vegan for 22 days + avoid all alcohol. Those of you who know me, know that I am the Anti-Vegan. Steak, SAUSAGE, bacon... these are a few of my favorite things. I am sad I will be without for the next few weeks, but I am looking forward to the challenge and cannot wait to see what this does for my mind, body, and weight loss journey! ((I apologize for my mood swings in advance.. supposedly, I should be expecting to have a few of those!)) If anyone has any great recipes, send em' on over! Lately I've been uber lazy when it comes to cooking. Between a full time job and cheer coaching, cooking is the last thing on my mind. It's so much easier to hit up my best Bimbo and get her to meet me out for dinner. Stumbling across Pinterest I saw a chicken stir fry, and thought, hmmm, how can I make this incredibly convenient and quick?
Here's what you'll need: Pre-cut Veggies (Stir Fry mix, convenient.) Boneless Skinless Chicken Breast (2) Low Sodium Chicken Broth Garlic Salt/Pepper Crushed Red Pepper EVOO Spray Teriyaki Sauce Minute Brown Rice (one cup serves two!) First, I put my stove on medium/high. EVOO'ed the pan, and threw in the veggies. While those were cooking, I cut up my chicken into cubes. Salt/Pepper/Crushed Red Peppered it, and put it in another pan with my Chicken broth. When my chicken/veggies looked about done I threw my Minute Rice cup in the microwave, for, you guessed it, one minute! Combine it all in one pan, throw some teriyaki sauce on it and serve! Feeds 2 Bimbos. Sometimes all a Bimbo needs are a few new things to get her feeling good. This week's guilty pleasures consist of Tiny Tea - made by your Tea - which is a TEAtox ((recommended by our beloved Draggie)). So far I'm obsessed. Day 4 and I'm down 4.6 lbs. Feeling more energized and as per the Tiny Tea Blog, my face is glowing from doing a few rounds of the teabag facial mask. My next guilty pleasure was enrolling at HAWC gym here in San Ramon. I've read outstanding reviews on the owner and I'm excited to see what they have to offer. My first class was Saturday - it included a variety of kettle bell exercises, ab work, cardio, and lots of stretching in between - the vibe is really positive and I'm excited to see what this class is going to do for me. && lastly, I went for a new pair of Running Shoes. ((Sunday I was SO sore from HAWC it took me 23 minutes to do 1.5 miles...talk about getting your ass kicked)) I love love love the color combo I chose. I'm typically a pink bimbo and it was hard for me to try something new, but I did, and although they are tongue-less ((soo strange)) I'm loving my new light weight Nike Free 3.0. So cute right?! Xo Bimbos, G Hello Bimbos && Happy New Year! We are feeling extra bloated and extra lazy after the long holiday week. So this week, I will be cleansing! I've had a few of the Suja Juices before, but never done the cleanse. I'm excited to feel more energized and ready to take on 2014! These juices are extremely filling, packed with almost 2 pounds of produce in every bottle, organic, and by far the best I've ever had. The "FUEL" one is my absolute favorite, I'm already excited to drink it again tomorrow. Cheers to starting the year off looking and feeling our best! Xo Bimbos, G So - originally these Bimbos signed up to do the 10K Mermaid Series in San Francisco.. just 3 days before the big race, we chickened out, && decided to do the 5K! Although it wasn't our first goal, we are excited, happy, and proud we made it across the finish line (although we won't show you those photos, you're welcome in advance- eeeeek). It was such a fun experience and we are looking forward to doing more races in the future! My average time was 11:57 - not my best - but I'm happy with it and excited to have a new goal to beat! Mel came in right behind me just over 12 minutes and our honorary Bimbo, Nicki, came in at an impressive 8 minutes 44 seconds, finishing 1st in our age group (bitch...). If you have the opportunity to do a Mermaid Series Race, DEFINITELY DO IT! We had a great time preparing for it (new workout wardrobe pieces included) and an even better time participating! Xo Bimbos, Gab && Mel Just a short few weeks ago, our friend Jordan, sent us a text about the Mermaid Run in San Francisco. Naturally, we were intrigued just by the word, Mermaid. Anyways - after debating whether to do the 5k or 10k it was decided that the 10k was our goal! We have been slightly slacking in the "training department" and are now just 2 weeks out- YIKES! Lucky for these Bimbos we'll have each other to run or carry to the end of the race! That being said - not only are we excited to get out there and run - we're REALLY excited about the cute tanks we're going to wear and the new shoes we're going to buy! Wish us luck Bimbos! Keep Calm & Mermaid On.

After getting into a post working day "couch potato" rut, I woke up one morning at 4:30 and thought.... Hmm.. maybe I should work out BEFORE work? Bimbos- I'm. So. Glad. I. Did. I work about 10-12 hours a day 6-7 days a week... I'm exhausted by the time 7 p.m hits. Sometimes all I want is to go home and go to bed (and it's still light outside...). So I thought, the gym opens at 5... let's see how this goes. 4:30 a.m, I woke up, hopped out of bed, threw on some workout wear, and headed out! The first day I KNEW this was exactly what I had been searching for. I finally figured out my workout routine! Since then, I've been hitting up the gym at 5 am, Monday-Thursday. I have had SO much more energy, I'm never tired at work (well, HARDLY), and have def decreased my coffee consumption (it was getting really out of control...). I'm so much happier (just ask my co-workers) and full of life throughout the entire day. And I feel pretty damn good about myself after kicking each morning's ass. Some days I do weights, some days you can catch me on the treadmill, and some days, I do both! Plus the gym at 5 am is way less crowded than the gym at 5 p.m. I like to call it my "G" (get it?) time. Honestly, it makes all the difference in my day. Elle Woods wasn't kidding when she said, "Exercise gives you endorphins, and endorphins make you happy."
And happy people don't kill their co-workers. ;) Xo Bimbos, Gab |
